Acousticophilia - Sound Fetish

So what exactly is a sound fetish and how is it identified?  Is this something that is rare or can we see examples of this in modern culture?

 

For anyone wondering yes there is such a thing as a Sound fetish.  The technical or given term to this is Acousticophilia.  This fetish has many interesting facts.

 

Acousticophilia is defined as the following.  It is where a person has sexual arousal is derived from sounds like music, poems or foreign-language chitchat.  There can be many reasons why someone develops a fetish related to sounds.  They may have a particular language or are really into a certain type of nationality accent such as Russian or Japanese.

 

It may be debated in society this fetish is actually more commonplace than a lot of people may think.  How many people do you know have a preference for accents or really like the sound of a person’s voice whether it be speaking or singing.  This can easily become a fetish even for those actually outside the fetish scene.  It is true to say that you probably know someone with a Sound Fetish.

 

Here below are a few examples where Acousticophilia has been demonstrated in popular films that you may well have seen in recent years. 

 

In the film, A Fish Called Wanda, the character of Wanda Gershwitz displays acousticophilia. Also, in the film Belle de jour, the character Séverine has several sexual fantasies which involve the noise of carriage bells and mewing cats, which she has an unexplained fascination with. In the TV series, The Addams Family, Gomez Addams was aroused by his wife Morticia speaking French.
